Registration begins for Puu Kukui Elementary

The new Puu Kukui Elementary School in Wailuku, which opens in the fall, currently is registering students.

The school boundary includes Kehalani, Wailuku Heights, Waikapu and Maalaea. The boundary map may be found at www.centralmaui.k12.hi.us/index/school_boundaries.html.

Children who reside in the district are asked to register at the school. Registration packets are available at Wailuku and Pomaikai elementary and Iao Intermediate schools. Children born in 2008 enrolling in kindergarten and children new to the Department of Education are asked to complete a full registration packet.

Children who live in the Puu Kukui district but want a geographical exception to attend another school must submit their request by today.

The family of a current student must submit a geographical exemption request to the student’s current school office. If the child is new to the public school system, a complete registration packet and exemption request must be submitted.

Children transferring to Puu Kukui from another public school are asked to complete an abbreviated registration packet, which also is available at the Wailuku, Pomaikai and Iao schools.

Turning in registration packets takes about 10 to 15 minutes at the school office, located in the Iao Intermediate School administration building.
